Social Skills Groups
Registration for our 2019 Fall Social Skills Groups are now open!
DTA’s social skills groups teach children appropriate social interaction skills and allow them to practice these skills with children their own age in a supportive environment. Through play-based techniques, our groups help children to initiate and sustain lasting friendships. Strategies and home programming will be provided to ensure carryover of skills in the home environment.

Social skills groups help to improve the following:
-
Emerging "basic" social skills (e.g. turn-taking, sharing, transitioning between activities)
-
Peer interactions and relationships
-
Social greetings and social closures (including initiating, maintaining, and ending a conversation appropriately)
-
Nonverbal communication such as eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, and body language
-
Personal space and boundaries
-
Problem-solving and teamwork during group activities and play
-
Emotional regulation and expressing feelings
-
Self-advocacy
